Learning in French

Communicating in French! The Concours d'art oratoire is one way that students can prepare for, and showcase their French-speaking abilities. Feedback from past candidates is very positive! View the video to the left for some examples of what this experience can look like at the intermediate and secondary levels.
École South Sa-Hali offers many opportunities for students to practice their oral French skills. The Diplôme des études en langue française is becoming more and more popular in Canada. This optional assessment experience not only yields an international, non-expiring certification, indicating a level of language proficiency corresponding with world-wide standards; it is also a very positive experience for students. Currently in SD73, high school students have the option to apply to take this testing through their teachers (organized by the District Languages Coordinator). There is limited space as the DELF requires certified examiners. Some teachers in our district have begun training to be able to offer the DELF. We may eventually be able to offer this opportunity to interested elementary French Immersion students. Please feel free to contact Mme Hughes, Vice-Principal, or Lana Blais, District Languages Coordinator, for more information about the DELF. |
French-language initiatives at École South Sa-Hali come in many forms and are offered by several staff-members throughout the year!
We are proud of our inclusive school community and our students who works hard in their additional language! |
